It has been a year since the formations and inauguration of the Rivonia Wide Residents Association in response to the community’s need to reflect on the changing needs of the evolving community.

Organiser Stephanie Smith said the campaign has two purposes – to make the suburb beautiful again and to help unify the suburb’s residents.” As a community, we have become insular and isolated. One of the aims of our initiative is to clean up Rivonia, but we also want to get to know our neighbours and empower each other. We can all do our part, whether tidying up the pavement around here we live, or spending an hour on the weekend picking up rubbish in the wider suburb.

As with the rest of South Africa, we have no lack of challenges in our community.  Crime, noise, lack of services, corruption, drugs, failing infrastructure, lack of neighbourliness, and a general failing of the society weighs on us. As a community there are many areas and activities that need funding , ranging from legal funds, to money for keeping the community clean, and funds for security upgrades. Spread the word about all that Rivonia Wide is doing, and help us gain the support we need.

The Rivonia Wide Residents Association (RWRA) has today expressed serious concerns over persistent bylaw enforcement issues in the area.
