Where we focus our efforts
As with the rest of South Africa, we have no lack of challenges in our community. Crime, noise, lack of services, corruption, drugs, failing infrastructure, lack of neighbourliness, and a general failing of the society weighs on us.
But as a community we have to come together to address these issues, and take REAL action.
JOSHCO
The proposed Joshco project is of deep concern to the residents of Rivonia. This concern is not just for our property values, and general well being, but for the manner in which this project has been promulgated and managed from the outset. The impact on infrastructure, roads, noise, and the school are just the tip of the iceberg. The residents of this development will be living in tiny apartments, with limited recreational space.

Speeding & Road Incidents
Speeding and reckless driving are the norm on the roads of Rivonia with numerous accidents, road rages incidents and assaults on record. Drivers jump stop streets and ignore the rules of the road endangering our children and families . As a community member you need to report these indictments with photos and videos to support our cause for speed cameras, traffic circles and speed bumps.
The Drug Scourge
Street drugs have pervaded our community with schools in particular being affected. Informal street vendors sell all manner of drugs and drugs are on offer at shopping centres. The police have no solution however we believe the only way to address this is with education. See here for more information.

Housing & Property Development
Property development in Rivonia is being driven not by whats best for the community or even the City but for a few officials and property developers. It is being impacted by no town planning and decaying infrastructure. Aside from overcrowded roads, noise and declining property values, houses are being abandoned waiting for developers and attracting squatters, creating further issues.
Infrastructure
The infrastructure of Rivonia is falling apart with weekly water pipe bursts and electrical outages. Our roads are in poor condition. The COJ is playing catchup with limited budget and poor planning for the future. The various departments are doing what they can on a responsive basis and we have forged good relationships with relevant departments to address service outages.
Noise Pollution
As a community were are inundated with noise pollution from numerous sources. Cars playing loud music or with illegal exhaust systems. Nightclubs and pubs playing music well above accepted limits and in violation of their licenses. Neighbours having parties until late without regard for anyone else. There are bylaws that protect us, please use them.
Illegal Businesses
There are numerous illegal business trading across Rivonia. Based in houses or as street vendors very few of these business have licenses yet trade without restriction. There are bylaws that protect your rights, and as a community these illegal trading businesses need to be reported.
