No noise is good news

We have been working with SAPS to handle the noise issue caused by both legal and illegal establishments. Last weekend, we met with the owners of Madison Avenue / The Beach, along with Col. Pillay of Sandton SAPS. The owners have admitted that on occasion the noise levels exceeded what they should be, but have committed to addressing this by further soundproofing the walls, putting a roof on the Beach, changing the position of their sound system speakers and taking regular sound readings to improve the situation. We shall see how this impacts the noise. They have also said they will address the fencing and neaten that up. Beyond the noise issue, we also expressed our concern with the drug and alcohol abuse taking place outside the club itself. They claim to have increased their security and clamped down on drug dealing on the road. The SAPS, under Colonel Pillay, also raided a number of establishments last weekend and shut a few down whose licenses did not comply. We intend to meet with the owners of some of the establishments on the Boulevard to address the noise and other concerns people have complained about.
