I hope this message finds you well. I want to share some exciting updates and important information with you:

1. Water Breakthrough: Last Saturday, a significant breakthrough occurred when the Director-General of the Department of Water and Sanitation (DWS), the CEO of Randwater, and the Executive of Joburg Water met with our WaterCAN structure and civil society groups. 2. JoburgCAN Affiliates Network Session: A heartfelt thank you to everyone who participated in the Networking session last night. The engagement and insights shared were truly valuable. It’s inspiring to witness community leaders networking and supporting each other. We eagerly anticipate the next session in the new year and look forward to onboarding more communities onto the JoburgCAN network.

3. JoburgCAN Information: Several organizations have requested a concise one- or two-page document explaining what JoburgCAN is. This information will help them make informed decisions about affiliation. We are committed to delivering this document to you within the next week.

4. JoburgCAN Manager: We received numerous applications for the position of JoburgCAN Manager and are in the process of shortlisting candidates for interviews. Our goal is to finalize the selection process by mid-December.

5. Joburg Crisis Alliance: A letter has been dispatched to the President, and we are eagerly awaiting a formal response. The intent behind this initiative is to dissolve the council, call for an early election, and restructure the Executive to foster greater stability in the Council.

6. Webinars and Workshops: The positive feedback from our previous webinar has been encouraging. Some of you have expressed interest in suggesting topics for future sessions. As we approach the end of the year, we believe it’s best to kick off these sessions in January. Two proposed topics are “How do I declare a dispute?” and “How do I grow my membership?” We welcome your suggestions for additional topics; please feel free to email us at info@joburgcan.org.za
